A week of build-up, hype, and speculation all culminated this morning as Rockstar unveiled the official debut trailer for Grand Theft Auto V. As had been rumored many times over the past year, this entry in the franchise will at the very least mark a return to the fictional city of Los Santos: an interpretation of Los Angeles as done by Rockstar.
Aside from showing off stunning visual fidelity, the trailer also reveals the direction being undertaken by the fifth game of the iconic franchise. The unnamed main character professes to be a man trying to escape crime to be a father, but I think we all know how that story ends. Sequences displayed throughout the protagonist’s narration depict a run-down Los Santos that seems to hint towards at least a minor narrative focus on the current economic crisis.
Still, almost everything now but the setting is subject to speculation as we await more details to come in the (hopefully) near future.
